During a major renovation of Howard University’s Chemistry and Biology buildings, the initial security specifications called for traditional wire glass in the doors. While wire glass meets basic fire codes, it is an outdated aesthetic and doesn’t offer modern physical security or impact resistance for a high-traffic university environment.

The Execution: Securing History
In addition to upgrading the glazing, our D.C. team is currently replacing all the doors and hardware throughout the renovation, with Gilbane serving as the General Contractor for the project.
